Powerful ways to promote your start-up business

When starting a business, there are several things you need to invest your time and money in – Marketing is most definitely one of them. If you have not created a marketing plan before launching your business, there is no need to worry. We have some valuable tips for you to promote your start-up with great success.

Start by setting up a good foundation

Establish your target market:

Although you may eat, sleep and breathe your product, the reality is that not everyone will love your product nor need it. Do not waste your time and money by trying to market to everyone.

First, start by segmenting your audience:

  • Geography – Which country, town, or city is your audience in
  • Demographic – Gender, age, education level and occupation
  • Psychographic – Core traits of your clients which could include values, interests, opinions, and motivations
  • Behavioural – You need to understand how a customer would purchase from you – their purchase behaviour

Now that you understand your audience, it’s time to define your KPI’s (Key performance index).

How to define success:

Whether success means signups or revenue for your business, define this KPI early on and establish a timeline to work towards it. Make sure that you tie your success to real growth and ensure that you measure it the same way each month. Your core metrics need to be measurable and specific (SMART goals), for instance 100 new signups per month in the first year.

Promote your business on Social Media channels

Thanks to the internet, marketing is easier and more measurable than ever. Your customer base can be easily found online and effectively targeted with key messages. Social media channels provide you with affordable, measurable tools to encourage your potential customer to engage with your brand online. You do not have to join all platforms – Do some research and find out where your audience is, then make use of those platforms. E.g. LinkedIn is great for B2B businesses, whereas Instagram is superb for Ecommerce stores.

Make use of a blog

Posting regular, informative blogs assist with keeping your website up to date with valuable content, while also increasing your organic rankings amongst search engines, such as Google. By driving your audience to these relevant pages through various marketing efforts, will allow your website to be seen as a credible source and assist with your SEO efforts. By publishing engaging content, you will keep your audience updated and establish trust, while showing off your product/ service.

Have a professional business address
