Stewart Grigor started his career at the BBC in London in Film Editing in the mid 80’s. He then went on to run the technical facilities of Satellite broadcast facilities whilst holding the role of Sales Director and board member. In the early 90s, he built a programme catalogue of 400 hours with AVL Broadcast and represented a host of European production companies across all genres.
Grigor moved on to work for the Swiss sports marketing giant, ISL, where he ran the TV rights for all their major Sports World Championships; IAAF, FIBA, UCI, FIG, FINA and UEFA. When the German Kirch Group won the rights to the 2002 & 2006 FIFA World Cups, Grigor was head hunted to work for Prisma Sports & Media, the sales arm for Kirch. Running a team of sales managers, the team broke all records for TV Sales of Wimbledon Tennis, Spanish League Football and FIFA’s new portfolio of additional events (Confederations Cup & Women’s World Cup). The Women’s World Cup in the US had attendances that broke all previous records for even the domestic men’s Major League Soccer.
During this time Grigor travelled extensively, negotiating with the heads of many European networks to re-coup a Kirch Group guarantee to FIFA of USD1.1billion for the World Cup 2002. He worked closely with many major television networks, global brands, international federations and worldwide media owners which gave him an invaluable insight into the workings of media and how it can be best utilised.
In 2000, Grigor moved to Cape Town and formed Clickboogie Media, the first independent distribution company in South Africa. Grigor saw a gap in the market to create a bridge between the SA production community and the rest of the globe. The company represents many South African production companies, as well as, US and Canadian companies. Clickboogie Media also assists the national broadcasters with their TV sales, for example, Grigor sold “Shoreline” to multiple top broadcasters worldwide, which is a first for a South African production.
The company acts as Executive Producer on a number of local and international projects. “Flight to Freedom”, a feature about the relocation of wild animals to Kissama National Park in Angola, won a Cine Golden Eagle Award presented by National Geographic Channel.
Grigor chose a co-space offering at the V & A Waterfront because of its prime location and the fact that this will be rental scenario of the future.
