Stress in the workplace is always a common factor. We spend most of our days at work engaging and interacting with our colleagues, chasing targets and deadlines – while making sure that we are well enough to show up as healthy, present and well-balanced members of the team.
There can be various reasons why certain people may find themselves dealing with unhappiness in the workplace. For many, work related stress can become an unbearable burden, which can eventually consume their whole lives.
In this current economic climate, a lot of people find themselves dealing with a lot of workplace stress triggers. It is no secret that many people have lost their jobs and the ones who are employed may feel as though they must always keep their head above water no matter what happens, staying grateful that they have a job even in unbearable working conditions, with the fear of appearing inadequate for speaking up and/ or letting their manager or team members in on finding a solution around the cause of their unhappiness.
Experts say that in the long run, untreated stress can deeply affect your physical health and mental wellbeing. Here are some of the signs that might indicate that you are dealing with stress in the workplace:
- Forgetfulness
- Constantly anxiety
- Restlessness
- Irritability and constantly defensiveness with mood swings
- Hypersensitive and angry
- Are starting to have a decreasing ability to think clearly or focus.

- Organise your workday and priorities.
- Understand that it’s okay to delegate, ask for help and communicate
- Exercise to release some endorphins and shake off the unhealthy energy you’ve been walking around with throughout the day
- Eat nutritious food
Sometimes, we cannot entirely avoid workplace stress or pressure, but we can find ways of dealing with the negative situations we find ourselves in in a more productive way. Everyone is different and truth be told, we all process situations in different ways and at different rates. As much as being in a stressful situation can affect us negatively, it can sometimes help us grow. Therefore, you can know whether to:

- Find a healthy way to solve or change the situation
- Or completely removing yourself from the situation
