Who Runs The World? Entrepreneurs!

Entrepreneur – it quite literally means to undertake an enterprise. It seems as though being your own boss, business owner or an entrepreneur is the latest craze!

Long gone are the days of working for the same organisation for 30 years and collecting your shiny watch as a long-service award; even the days of job hopping every 3 years are over! Now, everyone wants to be their own boss, whether that means being a consultant or the developer of the next big idea, one thing is for sure – you’d better be ready for the harsh reality of what being an entrepreneur actually entails.

Today, the role of an entrepreneur is not limited to that of an ideas-man or a salesman. You are the cheerleader, the executioner, the counsellor, the handyman, the cleaner, the IT technician, the receptionist, the driver, the accountant, the negotiator, the doormat and sometimes even the devil. But most importantly, you’re the role model!

Anyone who’s had a taste of being an entrepreneur knows that the journey to success is much longer and much harder than originally imagined. It’s safe to say that if one were to list all the possible pitfalls of starting a business and the amount of time that would be consumed dealing with distractions, there would only be a few brave enough to sign up.

That’s the beauty of singing up to a co-working space or premium serviced office environment! Entrepreneurs that have done this know very well that a large portion of the noise and distraction is being taken care of so that they can focus on what’s important to their business and customers. In one easy decision, they have mitigated being the receptionist, handyman, security guard, cleaner or IT technician. What’s more, is that they have chosen to surround themselves with like-minded individuals who are either going through the same thing or have already done so and can provide support and guidance!

While the challenges of being an entrepreneur haven’t changed, the business environment from which one operates certainly has, so go out there and run the world!
