The impact we have on the earth is a constant concern. Even though many individuals do their best to create a sustainable system within their homes, it proves slightly difficult to implement the same systems in the office environment when you require everyone to have the same mindset.
At Cube Workspace we have ensured to include sustainable measures within the design of our Workspaces, as well as little improvements around the Workspace that will somehow contribute to the bigger picture without compromising the service offerings to our clients. Below are a few ways on how we have done this:
1. Recycling bins
Since recycling is one of the simplest ways to be more sustainable in the office environment, we have placed recycling bins at various common areas within the Workspace such as the printing stations and tea/coffee stations to encourage the clients to recycle their paper, glass and plastic in the dedicated bins. This makes it easy for clients as not much effort is required of them, but they are assisting with making a difference.
2. Solar – a renewable power source
Our two new Workspaces, Fourways and Morningside, are fully solar powered which reduces our carbon footprint to help protect the environment. The system does not produce any carbon emissions as it is clean and renewable source of energy. Although the initial investment proves to be quite pricey, we are saving money in the long run.
3. Motion sensor lights
In most of our Workspaces we have motion sensor lights where the lights will switch on when there is movement detected in that area. The moment there is no movement the lights automatically switch off and helps reduce our electrical consumption.
4. Stationery
Cube Workspace purchases customised pens which are made from eco-friendly products. This provides us peace of mind that we are not paying for stationery items made from products which may be harmful to the environment. The pens look great and write well, and thus provides another small and inexpensive way for us to be more environmentally friendly. We have also encouraged our head office staff to use the old Cube Workspace branded notepads as scrap paper instead of disposing of those.
5. Green Plants
Another effective way to be environmentally friendly is by adding plants in the Workspace. Cube Workspace has taken advantage of this throughout all the Workspace locations by incorporating plants into the design of the interior space. Green plants not only provide a beautiful look to the Workspace but also provides a healthier and cleaner environment as it adds extra oxygen and reduces pollution in the air.
At Cube Workspace we ensure to continuously find new and different ways of reducing the impact we have on the earth as we need to conserve the natural resources for future generations. It takes a lot of awareness and a great amount of time to get all employees and clients to assist with being environmentally friendly, but it creates a healthier environment and saves the company a lot of money in the long run.
We look forward to your assistance with reducing our carbon footprint!
All the best,
Zaaki
